Endorsement: Eneas Morgan Account |

- 1. A general term for any fabric used in making men's or women's shirts. The Fairchild Books Dictionary of Textiles, 556.
- 2. The possessive pronoun his was crossed out here. It is possible that Eneas Morgan was initially presuming a relationship between Josiah Charles and Esther Sampson. Both she and Josiah Charles were Pequots who had become associated with the Brothertown Christina Indian community. Esther was born Esther Simons, daughter of John Mason Simons. She was married to Abel Sampson who died in Brothertown, NY in 1830. She removed to Wisconsin in 1844. De Loss Love, 359.
- 3. Offal in this context could be the waste material left over after the butchering process or the entrails/internal organs of an animal used for food. https://www.lexico.com/definition/offal
- 4. This figure is the sum of the entries for which there is an X ascribed.
